Canadian Merit Scholarship Foundation
This foundation offers the Bourse Loran Award as well as the Garfield West Award programs. Each Canada university scholarship is for Canadian residents who have demonstrated academic excellence. Award amounts for the Loran scholarship ranges between $2,000 and $75,000. To be eligible, students must have at least a cumulative average of 85%. In 1990 the Canadian Engineering Memorial Foundation was established following the Ecole Polytechnique Massacre that took place in Montreal. 14 women died as a result of the event. The goal of the foundation is to provide undergraduate funding as well as funding for master’s and doctoral education for women pursuing a career in engineering. At the undergraduate level, the foundation provides for nine University scholarships of Canada that range in value from $5,000 to $10,000.
